Playground

2015 I Istanbul

Playground was an exhibition I curated during the Istanbul Biennial. It reflected the various uses of a city’s public space: a playground for local children, a playground for international art events or a playground for political movements. The exhibiting artists were invited to create their artworks on the spot, to build the exhibition together and to spend time in Istanbul - the city they reflected with their work. Most of them came in person, and we used the exhibition space as an artists’ playground. The political and occasionally critical content was communicated through playful artworks, so the exhibition was immensely enjoyed by all visitors of different age groups and cultures.
