Flowers Know No Borders
2018 I Hegenheim
Flowers Know No Borders was a performance about migration. It was based on a setting around a long table covered with diverse floral motives. In this colourful surrounding, I was tattooing with henna. Others were having tea and an intimate talk. I painted flowers ranging from Transilvanian tulips to Hungarian carnations. The henna flowers symbolise how it looks, when you mix different cultures’ traditions with diverse local materials. The performance was open to all genders, to share the intimacy of the henna evenings I know from my childhood.
